The Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) is a training and certification scheme for scaffolders in the UK. It was established in the 1970s by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and is recognized as the gold standard for scaffolding training and certification. Cisrs trainee card scheme is designed to ensure that scaffolders are trained to the highest standards of safety and competence. It covers a range of scaffolding disciplines, including tube and fitting, system scaffolding, and suspended access.The training is delivered by accredited training providers who are audited regularly by CISRS.
CISRS Trainee Card is mandatory for all scaffolders who wish to work on construction sites in the UK, and it is also a requirement for many international contracts.The programme is built on the tenets that formal off-site training, on-site job experience, completion of the S/NVQ Accessing Operations and Rigging (Construction), Practical Skills Assessment, and Health and Safety training/testing are all necessary to get qualification.

CISRS Scaffolding Labourer Card is intended for opreatives who do manual or driving activities on-site to assist with scaffolding operations. Scaffolding labourers are only permitted to work from a safe, secure location, such as the ground, a building's floor, a fully protected roof, or a scaffold platform that has been completely built. Participants who successfully complete the course are given a five-year CISRS Scaffolding Labourer card. COTS Course and CITB HS&E Test within 2 years (or accepted exemption) are the training requirements for this course. COTS Course and CITB HS&E Test within 2 years (or accepted exemption) are also necessary for renewal.
An operative may apply for CISRS Scaffolder Card after successfully passing the CISRS Part 1, CISRS Part 2, VQ2/SCQF5, CISRS 1 Day Skills Test, and CITB HS&E Test (or after receiving an accepted exemption). The operative may now be considered a qualified scaffolder who is capable of leading a scaffolding gang in basic scaffold operations as outlined in the course material for TG20 and CISRS.The validity of CISRS Scaffolder Cards is five years.Card training requirement Part 1 of COTS CISRS (Tube & Fitting),Part2 of the CISRS (Tube & Fitting),SCQF Level 5 CISRS 1 Day Skills Test, NVQ Level 2taken within two years (or an authorized exemption), CITB HS&E test and2 Day Scaffolder Refresher/CPD Course for Renewal.

Scaffolding structures are covered in the two-day simple and complex Advanced Scaffold Inspection course. Candidates must have substantial expertise in the scaffolding sector and must have held a CISRS Basic Scaffold Inspection Record Card for at least 2 years in order to be considered. The Basic Scaffold Inspection course is not required prior to enrolling in this course for CISRS scaffolders who have held their card for at least two years and for holders of Advanced cards.This card's training requirements include the CISRS Advanced Scaffold Inspection Course, the CITB HS&E Test taken within the past two years (or an accepted exemption), and the CITB.

2 day CISRS Scaffolding Supervisor course is available to those with expired or current CISRS Supervisor cards as well as to CISRS Scaffolde card holders with a current SMSTS certificate. 5 day CISRS Scaffolding Supervisor course is available to those who personnel providing first line supervision for contractors. After completing the course, operators receive CISRS Scaffolding Supervisor cards. Training requirements for the renewal procedure include the CISRS Supervisor Course, CITB HS&E Test (Supervisory Level) taken within 2 years (or accepted exemption), and CISRS 2 Day Supervisor Refresher Course, CITB HS&E Test (Supervisory Level).
CISRS BASE course for non-scaffolders who install, modify, and disassemble very simple and typical scaffolding structures utilizing a particular system scaffolding productbefore conducting on-site operations, newly qualified BASE cards must operate under the close supervision of an experienced BASE operator (an operator who has held a BASE card for at least 12 months).Training requirement for card CITB HS&E Test taken within 2 years (or accepted exemption),5 Day BASE Course and 2 Day SSPTS Course,CITB HS&E Test taken within 2 years (or accepted exemption) for renewal.
The following training must be completed by the Trainee within two consecutive 18-month periods. Trainee Scaffolder Cards for CISRS are First COTS CISRS Part,NVQ Level 2 SCQF Level 2 CISRS Part 2,1 Day Skills Test for CISRS. For the first 18 months, there must be minimum training Trainee Cards are COTS obtained in the last two years within two years (or an authorized exemption), CITB HS&E test.Training Minimum for Second 18 Month CISRS Part 1 Course Trainee Cardtaken within two years (or an authorised exemption), CITB HS&E test.
The validity periods for each CISRS Cards vary, thus you should see the entry for eachcisrs training card for more information. The majority of them are "permanent" cards that may be renewed frequently, but the Red (Trainee) card is only good for a short period of time and should be switched out for a Blue (Scaffolder's) card as soon as the trainee has attained NVQ Level 2.

A (permanent) CISRS card that is about to expire can be renewed using a straightforward procedure that is virtually the same as applying for a new card. You will need to repeat both the courses and your expired HS&E test because it will have expired. The requirements for renewal vary depending on the type of card you want to renew.Please note: CISRS Cards can only be renewed within six months of the expiration date of the present card.
